Within Nishiki Market, you will find Fumiya 富美家 at the cross junction of Nishikikoji-dori and Sakaimachi-dori St. The famous udon restaurant, long loved by the locals was founded in 1946 by the Tomimi Family. There will always be people queueing outside the restaurant during meal times.

Fumiya started off as a famous Japanese Sweets Cafe, over 70 years ago, but with the thought of satisfying their customers even more, they created their famous Tomiya Nabe Udon. Up till date, Fumiya still perseveres on their founder’s idea of using only the best ingredients for their dashi stock without worrying about the cost.


Fumiya mainly serves Kyo Udon, traditionally it is a softer udon that is not chewy with dashi stock. Their famous Tomiya Nabe is served throughout the year, besides udon they also serve sweets, assorted pre-packed products such as okonomiyaki, yakisoba, soup stock and seasonal products.



It was said that even when a person from Kyoto leaves for another place, they will still want to eat udon from Fumiya.
